ARIFA proudly participated in the development of Tanzania’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. This groundbreaking initiative provides a strategic framework to guide all stakeholders, public and private, in the responsible development, deployment, and adoption of AI technologies for inclusive social and economic growth.

The strategy was informed by extensive consultations with stakeholders across the national AI ecosystem. It addresses key questions around Tanzania’s position in the global AI landscape and the urgency to define a national stance that leverages the country’s comparative advantages while mitigating potential risks. With the increasing convergence of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies across sectors, the strategy recognizes the transformative power of AI in creating a value-driven digital economy.

At the time of the strategy’s formulation, there was no unified national framework to guide AI adoption. This initiative fills that gap by encouraging coordinated efforts across sectors and aligning digital economy ambitions with an integrated set of AI principles and actions.

ARIFA’s contribution reflects its commitment to supporting ethical, inclusive, and future-oriented AI governance in Tanzania. The strategy aims to ensure that the nation is not left behind in the global AI movement and is well-positioned to harness AI’s potential for sustainable development.
